Yeah, I actually feel super bad for Carson in these early chapters. From his perspective, all these punishments he suffers seem so unfair. He's not really learning what he did wrong or why, he's just having bad things happen to him. As a child.
My friend had a friend who, when instructed to "turn left" would immediately start to spin the steering wheel left, instead of... waiting until they reached a left turn that actually existed on the road to do that.
