@OSIDJ pretty sure the knocker was "passed down" by implanting it in the children, not via birth. It's possible it laid a genetic foundation somehow, or polluted the faie cycle of the Hayase clan, but I doubt the knocker itself ever passed itself down without leaving the mother's body.
