Well, this felt pretty sudden, but it’s nice in its own way. It’s bittersweet since it feels like Sora and Shiki were made for each other, and yet fated to never be, and part of me can’t help but wish for her to somehow come back, regardless of how ridiculous the method.
The other part of me really appreciates that the author kept it real. Even though the start with Shiki’s spirit was wild, I’ve heard more than a couple real stories like that, which although impossible to prove and hard to believe, also don’t exactly seem to be lies.
Surprisingly, I’ve actually liked the non-linear storytelling. I do think the author has made a couple mistakes with it, either going too far ahead too early in, or, like in this chapter, going to a part of Sora’s life that I’d thought we’d already explored all the way.
I think just one more chapter, even a short one, showing how Sora came to partially move on from Shiki and start falling for Nina is really needed. He never seemed more than friendly to her in previous chapters, and there was no real hint about him having a wife as a pro, plus in both before and after, he still seemed very connected and concerned about Shiki, so it’s hard for me to imagine how this happened.
