always thought her motive was kinda shaky, and now that we know what it is in full ……. i still feel the same way?
i get where she’s coming from as someone who has felt similarly about being born ever since i was a really little kid, but i don’t think she’s really seeing the full picture here. which makes sense if she’s a suicidal teenager deadset on what she believes is the correct (and only) solution. homeboy with the hat is right that when money is involved, the sterilization practice she’s talking about is less of a choice and more so just coercion. on top of that, unless a lot of shit within society changes for the better very quickly, then it’s likely that a system like that would easily be corrupted? it would go to shit, like… immediately. in so many ways, too. he listed a few when he talked about coercion and sloppy procedures and the like, but it’s not hard to imagine ways something like that could go south quickly, even with government involvement. and especially with government involvement. even with that aside, i don’t really see how a group of children committing mass suicide would actually push for such a change to occur. even when she originally stated her reason, it felt to me like it just wouldn’t work out the way she thinks? it seems more likely that everyone would treat it as a tragedy with no rhyme or reason, ignoring the actual reasons why it happened. or they’d use it to instead push their own agenda. like, for example, seeing as a celebrity is there with them, they could easily spin it as some kinda fan suicide thing or whatever else. it’s just really easy for people to ignore the message you’re trying to send , especially once you’re dead and that message can easily be overwritten by the public and their speculations, or by people covering it up. she says it could be the catalyst to changing things, but even so, that seems unlikely unless a TON more of these gatherings start happening for the same reason. and even then… that may not even be the immediate solution that people opt for, since it isn’t really the only solution to the issues she’s outlining.
and then ALL that aside, she’s putting a lot of emphasis into choice and free will and all that, but is missing how something like this does sorta ignore people’s choice in the matter. in the same way she keeps pushing for this gathering to continue so she can send her message, despite most people there not really wanting to anymore. she says what she wants is something that will be done by people’s free will, but again ignoring all the ways that can quickly become untrue, she keeps presenting the idea as something everyone will be on board with and want to do, when it’s… like… not.
but hey who knows🤷🏽♀️ curious to see where this goes anyhow
