Seriously is. I also don't like how she didn't talk to him about things at all, but that's like standard trope for reincarnation for no real reason. Maybe she will tomorrow for the first time, but she hasn't said anything yet. Would be sensible on the anniversary at the same age to reveal things, but I imagine they'll either get interrupted, something bad will happen between them, or something I can't imagine (the flag).

Really hoping neither of them dies, I’m plenty happy with the story without needing them to die every 17 years or something.

My guess is that she’s gonna nearly die in her birthday then hell swoop in and help her then things continue from there.
