given how warm they are, i'd assume kotatsu would be fine to sleep in, but it's a pretty cliche animanga thing for ppl to suddenly get so sick they take a day off and be fine the next day, my parents always made me go to school no matter what but usually for me colds last at least a week tho idk if i've ever gotten the 'flu' despite never getting flu shots but i imagine parents would just scold you for being lazy/improper 'manners' to fall asleep in a kotatsu (altho being sick if you get soaked in rain water and don't dry off properly i can imagine happening if immune system is a bit weak [but i'd still recommend ppl would prolly stretch/do warmups before swimming even if you eat b/c swimming uses all the muscles so i can imagine maybe some might at least get a stomachache]) Tho, i wonder where the 'idiots can't catch colds' saying comes form
if anything i'd more worry about overheating (tho i imagine JP manufacturers are 'safe' enough to where one wouldn't randomly explode or set on fire from being plugged in too long)
'in want of a cat' are we gonna get a glimpse of how the life is of a super rare 'cat-less' human would be? (altho i wonder if one woulod be judged for not having a cat even if they don't say they dislike them, allergies aside)

Sadly, it doesn't really go into that - I would really be interested in seeing the life of someone who actually does not like cats in this world. But no, it's
Mugishima's teacher, who has no cat, meeting a big old chonk of a cat.
Didn't read the details, just skimmed it. Amusingly, I try not to spoil myself till I TL it either!
(also Awwww for the video, I sure wish the reactions here were a lot better)
Dang, that's harsh! At least a day or two for the worst of it (and to spare everyone else from getting sick) would be nice.

well, asian parents (altho ironically JP parents are rarely shown as strict in light hearted series, tho i can imagine it reflecting irl with that 'first errand show'. I couldn't ever imagine inviting friends over to my house unprompted even if it was just for studying lol. altho if i had to go to school by myself on a train i feel like i'd have a lot of anxiety on missing the right stop or not, i'd hope students/minors ride for free if not for a discount, imagine missing a stop 2-3 times and being charged extra)
but not like anyone would've been at home, shame we couldn't have gone to the nurses office, never anything too bad but at the same time i was never the type to be able to fall asleep at a desk but yeah now i prolly would've like skipped class but other than lack of money for senior high we had 'off campus lunch' so ppl could go to the local cvs or so, would've been nice to have some cough drops or cold medicine during that time (tho, at least we did all properly wear masks when covid happen but i can imagine they would've made us go then too other than some at home schooling, i think the one time i only ever saw ppl in the west wear masks was during that swine flu thing [which ironically my friends and i had some pork at a local chinese place that week])
dun remember how old the teacher is, but i suppose it'd makes sense for a handful of 'higher up' ppl to not own cats so they don't get distracted/have to placate any 'owned' cats from causing trouble tho i'm sure all the other students cats will always have something to say, surprised we haven't seen more of their classmates lol
be hilarious if some cats were like "hamsters are cute, can we get one as a pet/addition to our house?" But even if not as sentient i can imagine some mice/rodents also being scared even if there are smaller pets in this world ppl can buy
...Oh, that makes me wonder, maybe there'll be a "zoo" chapter, them reacting to a lion would be quite interesting, if not zookeepers having to be wary/cautious to stop cats from just jumping in and making 'small talk' with a lion XD
Omg it pisses me off too. Colds go up during winter because we spend more time inside warm toasty havens for bacteria and around other humans. so it’s pretty much the complete opposite of what the misconception is
To be fair, I read about one study that showed that being cold weakens the body and the immune system, which allows viruses and bacteria to do better against the immune system.
Various things which weaken the body like stress, malnutrition, physical exhaustion, extremes of emotion, etc. can weaken the immune the system, which can lead to sickness. Still need to be exposed to viruses / bacteria, but like I wrote, they do better when the body is weaker.
