dude... the author even put the defeat of the dragon off camera. The author made it as ambigous as possible. All we got is a slip and crash and then the MC poking the body with a sword and assuming the dragon died. I doubt anyone is going to actually die in this story.

While killing him would be a step too far, that doesn’t mean he should walk away with just a slap on the wrist. He deserves to be jailed for life, like murderer should, but I have a feeling that it's not going to happen because manga authors usually don't understand that if you want to redeem a villain then maybe don't make him commit irredeemable acts that would make other characters forgiving him later look absolutely dumb and unrealistic.
