That was one cheesy dream of a formal date.

Akabane's right on the money. There are many kinds of dates and the officially scheduled ones we see all the time in media are not the only kind. Heck, a session at the arcade or even a routine shopping trip can be a date if both of them believes it is. There aren't any hard rules or official authorities dictating what a date should be.

Uda's also got some very helpful advice, stock dating knowledge doesn't always work because everybody is different. He's absolutely right, it depends on the person he's with and what they like. And I think that helped him the most, he asked Kana what she wanted to do and now they have something to do together. It's a clothes shopping date.

Hawk, please. Tacky outfit, but points for effort I guess.

Two references to out of date sayings. And, that weird response to Hawk saying he is scared of ghosts. What does closing one's eyes while shampooing have to do with ghosts? 🤔
i think a lot of japanese horror movies (really i can only think of the grudge and maybe the ring?) have people getting attacked by ghosts in the bathroom? And you’re most vulnerable when you’re shampooing because your eyes are closed and they can sneak up on you/be in front of you when you open your eyes. So if he doesn’t close his eyes they can’t sneak up on him. Also his brain could do that thing where you get stuck in a loop of “oh god there’s definitely a ghost behind me”
