@milleniumbug Yeah, I do think it's values dissonance. I'm not sure if women really do grope each other so casually in Japan, but I'd be extremely surprised. But in the anime/manga (2D) world it's pretty normal to see that, esp in the last 20 years. I think if we had the author in the room they'd laugh nervously and say that it's indeed a different world or something. Now mind you I'm not necessarily
defending this.
Back in the 90's it was also normal in the anime/manga world to have a pervert character (usually short or with cartoonish proportions) going around groping girls or stealing their panties and it being really funny to see them punished. That wasn't OK then I think and it's definitely not OK now. I guess time will only tell if what's (millenium) bugging you will be why people look back at this era and see it as really dated. My prediction is it will indeed, in incremental degrees, as lesbian identities become more and more accepted by the Japanese mainstream. It's less farther along than you'd hope.
In any case I was much less bothered by it than you, but I'm still very glad you brought it up.
Anyways! The chapter itself. All I'm gonna say is I'm really enjoying this manga so far and I usually can't stand shounen as a genre. The genre is usually something where you get half a story and half pages of the artist showing off with an arbitrary fight scene while all the dialogue temporarily just becomes chuuni cliche BS. For me the genre is like going to a sandwich shop that is known for arbitrarily replacing some of the ingredients with a large slab of cardboard you still have to chew through if you want to eat the rest of it. Even some of the "good" ones are like this. Why not just go to a different sandwich shop?
This isn't the case with Ayakashi Triangle which so far only has had very natural-feeling battle scenes that emphasize the theme of the story or characters. And guess what? It trusts its readers aren't some kind of magpies with ADHD if they don't see violence every two seconds and it will sometimes have chapters that just don't have a fight scene, like this one. Very good stuff.
(I'll be honest and say I've not given shounen a fair chance in a long time so maybe this example doesn't stand out as much as I'm making it sound like it does. Either way I'm happy to be here)
