It would be something that serves as a advertisement for the official publication and as notification from the group that it has dropped that particular series for good.

"Dead TL due to Official translation" is way too long for a tag, so maybe "Officially published" would work. Though you native english speakers feel free to come up with something better.

Are you saying that you want something akin to the [END] tag on chapters to denote that a group has dropped the series..?

There are more points than just this (like simply being clutter) but.. i feel like this could potentially make things worse as the whole notion of "There's an official translation so we can't work on it" might get stronger, when they definitely are allowed to (except for 7 titles, which have notes in the description)

Uh... You're right, it would encorage people to drop more manga, didn't think about that.

Your idea of a simple [Dropped] tag either on the chapter or on the manga page would definitely be better

Tags apply to all languages, so this wouldn't work.

Also, this implies that a single group has the ability to drop a manga for everyone, which is inaccurate.

We don't track scanlation status/info in this sense at all, because it's incredibly difficult to do it accurately. MU just about manages it, as a site dedicated to tracking releases in a single language, and we'd be doing it as a side job in dozens. It's safer to not say anything at all about scanlation status than to get it blatantly incorrect, and you'll note that MU doesn't have a "dropped" concept for scanlations either (only the official translations being dropped by the publisher) because of how vague the concept is.

You're right, my OP is short sighted on all fronts, Ndtm made me realize that
His own suggestion isn't though. Allowing groups to post a [Dropped] tag on their last chapter would be pretty usefull
