Is there a reason the demon lord keeps saying 'he' when the hero's a girl?

Typically the hero is a "boy" in Japan. I recall the writer of SAO being shocked the English speaking fans use "hero" to describe a gender neutral character instead of using "hero/heroine" based on the gender

Yeah, the pronoun choice is all over the place from this translator. The cleavage clearly shows that the hero is female.

I don't remember it being mentioned, but I'm starting to suspect the transition is mtl :v
Either the MTL software or the translator (my money is on the former) is doing a very terrible job of filling in the blanks, because Japanese sentence structure often doesn't include 3rd person pronouns (and even if they're there, it's often something non-gendered like "that person") and you have to deduce who a sentence is referring to by the context.

I suspect it's MTL cause it's been pretty much daily chapters, just fix grammar, typeset and call it a day

You don't just forget a character gender when you're putting so much work into it

Now I wonder if someone paid to have those chapters released since some people rush MTL a bunch of chapters for quick money

As T-sama and asian_weeb said, I do use MTL for the nuanced dialogues as I'm very bad at them and quality check has been all over the place. Of course I try to limit the use to minimum as I'm trying to get better both at english and japanese.

Well that explains it :v

Normally I hate MTL out of principle, but you do seem to be one of the few who seems to do it in actual good faith, when that's not the case the quality tends to be bad across the board, like having mediocre typeset for example

As for getting better in English and Japanese, honestly? I can only give you two advices:

- forget your language, yes I know that sounds weird :v

Example, you know what house means, you need to get used to understand the words without thinking about what they mean in your language, assimilate them

Although admittedly that might cause a few issues when trying to translate them, I understand English but I'm crap at translating to my language cause we lack a lot of equivalent words :v

- and the most important advice, read stuff that has a lot of text, like light novel, book, hell even some VNs, my English had a massive improvement after I played some VN, like Tsukihime for example, and only look for meaning of words you don't know

Stuff like manga and games are not really ideal to improve your grasp in either language cause it's just way too little text

My suggestion is maybe read something in English, like light novel of some series you like, and then read japanese version of it
