I must not be the only one who disagrees with Ochiai's style of only building around players who catch his ire. It would work if it were professional teams, but this is high school baseball. You aren't dealing with players alone, you're dealing with student youth who have a lot of potential, and it's a coach's job to bring out that potential from within the players. But of course, your lazy smug-looking arse can't bother yourself with that shite, no. Just keep on building around players who have a lot of strong points already. Who gives a damn about all these other developing students? Improve by themselves! His insistence on using Furuya is annoying as well. To him, Furuya isn't a baseball player, he's a pawn, an investment. In fact, he doesn't see him coaching Seidou for a long time, I'm calling he'll resign as a coach once Furuya graduates and makes it to the big leagues as an all star, since once Furuya gets famous so will he. He'll be known as the coach who nurtured Furuya and him not coaching any school would mean any school would be willing to hire him for a big price.
tl;dr: Ochiai's a jackass.
