If the synopsis is to be trusted, she'l stay for quite some time with them so... how come even then she isn't cognizant that the Duke and the kid really loves her. The Duke is quite open with how he adores her for sure. And Damian is pretty much being groomed. 😅

It seems like she's really sticking to the knowledge inherited from the novel, distrusting anything outside of it, including her own eyes and ears. Even though she's broken free from the scope of the novel a long time ago.
