It is meant to be predictable though. The base novel plotline is the basic framework of a weak to strong novel.

Whether the story should or should not be predictable isn't the issue.
The fact that I can effecively be right in my predictions everytime is disappointing right now. If it weren't disappointing I wouldn't have mentioned it. Predictable writing is okay when well done (that's pretty rare), here it is not well done.
