I don't think we read the same chapter.
The way he introduces himself is provocative, but that's just being cocky, not being a simp. Then he just tries to converse with a girl that wronged him in the past, even with thoughs of befriending her, rejects a trashy girl, and that's it.
He's allowed to have views on girls, just not getting used by them, or he'd be a simp.
