Why tf is this so low rated? This is easily one of the better manhuas of this genre. Rating this anything lower than a 5 is just insane
Came here wondering exactly that myself, this is genuinely the lowest rating I've seen on the entire site and it definitely doesn't deserve it. I have to imagine it's getting review bombed by extremely butthurt people.

Surprisingly tame in its exploitation of a genre. Started off as pretty generic, but rapidly matured and became a lot more thoughtful and introspective. MC is playing some head games, but more out of curiosity or genuine desire for improvement than malice or revenge. I get the feeling the author is a lot gentler in nature than he wants to be perceived.

Some moderately interesting, if generic, market/investment themes - pretty sure the author is fascinated by stock trading or went to school for it, but at least he is self aware enough to keep the jargon light and approachable.

Actually kinda digging the novel writing sub plot, and I'm convinced there is a Chinese wordplay gag with the usernames I'm missing, but the interactions with the MC and the girls are what is impressive. There's no fawning or over the top 'romcom heroine' syndrome on display - the girls are complex, sometimes contradictory (but when they are, they actually acknowledge it! Holy crap, the author has had a relationship with a woman that didn't involve money!), but very true to life.

It started out as a generic fix it story, but I love how the reincarnation aspect dropped off almost entirely and became focused on how the self improvement (even if unfairly aided) completely changed the perception of Han Lie. I'm even seeing some character growth in the exploitative girl, who despite everything I was expecting, wasn't a target for revenge or the cold shoulder.

That's what sells it for me - Han Lie could have easily done what thousands of redo protagonists have done and been a douche by avenging in advance...but he didn't. He's not being stupid or forgiving out of turn, he's being cautious...but kind.

I gotta say, this Manhua is something special. It handles the whole revenge thing in such a refreshing way. Instead of going all bitter and vengeful, the main character takes a more practical route, focusing on self-improvement. It's kinda surprising why it has such a low rating, honestly.

Thank you for voicing my thoughs out loud.

I am genuinely liking mc's relationship with the girls. It's actually the selling point of this comic, realistic social relationships at the university (for now, since I didn't go further than 25 chapters yet), and yes I though the start was like any trash industrial stuff you can find on the internet nowadays.
Just like you said, people are obsessed with mc coming back from the past and not becoming a billionaire overnight. That's just not the theme for this, if you want industrial trash comic plots/development, just read anything else, literaly.

The ratings on mangadex aren't really worth mentioning, there is a lot of trash highly rated and a lot of good stuff slept upon. That's just life, people have different tastes, and the world is colorful just because of that tiny fact.

Its still rated at a 5.5 lol
this manhua isn’t that bad

its ten times better than the other mindless slop that’s pushed out onto all the webtoon apps.

Yeah, as near as I can tell the only real reason it's being rated so poorly is because of people seeing "Instead of Being a Simp" as part of the title and having an instant knee-jerk reaction and thus judging a book by its cover. I really look down on such people.

As for the actual story itself, well the pace is too slow for my liking as it's progressed less in 100 chapters than I'd have expected or hoped for, but other than that it's worth an 8.x out of 10 rating for sure at least.

I have to give this a 10 to balance the rate out, this is a strong 8 for me, base on the plot, for me, if omnicience reader viewpoint is 10, lord of mystery is 9.8 then this one is 8.3, the rating is so low that i have to leave a rate and comment have to make things cleae

Why would you admit to looking for stuff like that?

Because when you see something that out of the ordinary (the score), you can't help but check it out, it's like watching a car crash, you can't look away 🤣

And speaking of this title, just finished reading the available chapters, yeah the rating is quite odd, it's a pretty good title, but abysmally slow.
I can see action readers despising it tho, it's mainly schemes and dialogue, which is fine for me but it might be a huge turn off for others.

I also agree with most people here, it's not as bad as the score makes it out to be
The main strength is definitely its characters, most of them are quite interesting and evolve in various ways over time, especially the two main girls as of now (the novelist and the rich girl)

I mean, didn't we specifically write what we like about this and why in our comments?
If you could react to our comments, it's that you read them. So you can't not know why we like this manhua.
That sentence of yours shows you're not being totally honest with your words.

If you're not being honest when debating, then my dialogue with you would be like talking to a wall, there's no worth to that.
So no reactions and no answers.

People answered you, though, so I did too, but I know that this dialogue between you and me is useless at this point, and that I'm just hopping onto the hate train (I don't particularly dislike your comment though, I just don't care.:lul:).

At least I didn't try to insult you because I disagree with you (apparently my brain got fried from enjoying reading), but I tried to reason with you, right? Who'd do that anyway? :thonk::smug:
