Kudos to Ha Il-Kwon, this series was seriously a delight to read. And the ending was executed well. I felt chills during that last reveal, while the fight with the cells had become something resembling normalcy. Plus, the ptsd and numbness throughout this series was eye-opening in regards to the cost of war and citizen desensitization. If you haven’t read his other works, you should.
Also, I think it’s important to keep in mind that although Youngsoo is a really disgusting and deplorable person, he’s also a victim of war like the rest of them. It doesn’t pardon or justify his actions, it’s just part of the truth.
