I'll reserve final judgment till more chapters have been released and we get the complete picture but if that were indeed the best friend (Takt) I'd be very disappointed. The dynamic of those two was how the MC revered their friendship and the mystery of what exactly could've gone down in the past for Takt to form such a massive inferiority complex and sour things while MC carries on thinking all is good. The good from this came from how straightforward their relationship was but if the author really has chosen to throw away all of that to needlessly muddle it with consulted drama using (at this point in stories like this) an overdone trope of the best friend secretly being gay then it's truly a shame because now they've taken this interesting storyline and turned it into some bland "I did what I did because it was all due to the repressed sexual feelings I have towards you". Sometimes the simple and standard approach is better and it most certainly is in this story, for not everything needs some extra hidden layer.

Firstly, If she knows he's gay and is helping him, why go out with him? Couldn't she have just played wing woman for him instead? Why would she help him when she clearly has feelings for Riku too? Why, try and seduce MC and even attempting a confession in the prior chapter? It literally would make no sense. Secondly, we haven't gotten the full picture as to why she's dating him in the first place though it should be obvious she's not into him romantically cuz she's interested in Riku. Thirdly, counter-argument, it's heavily eluded that Takt has an inferiority complex towards Riku and he dated kouhai cuz she heard about it from Riku to spite him. Riku refuses to change the status quo because, to him, he can't just confess and start dating the girl that was his best friend's girlfriend prior and doesn't want to ruin their friendship (which we've been shown how much he cherishes).

Why would they date? Because Takt doesn't want to come out yet? Pretty easy answer there.

MC KNOWS how she feels. But neither are doing anything. That means there's something else at play here that the two have agreed on. She was about to say I've always loved you. Which means she liked him prior to "dating" Takt. Also her and Takt never do couple stuff.

Inferiority complex being inferred can easily be a red herring. Someone else's point about it being his way of blocking out his competition could very well be it.

After reading the comments. It is unanimously that everyone is hoping for the homie to be gay in our boy. Which would be hella interesting. The series would be a hella big plot twist and keeping it fresh and original. We all are neck deep invested in the story so far and want to know more. So hats off to the author for succeeding in making it interesting!
