This is ome of those rakugo stories that I have seen a video of it being performed. This manga, despite being just pictures and text, manages to transmit the same feeling and "aura" as the real performance, that's really damn impressive.

I would say it requires a different skillset than real rakugo, but being able to truly adapt rakugo into pages would make the author a skilled rakugoka in a way, and this drawn performance was as real as a real one, atleast for me.

Absolutely fantastic story. On a sidenote, the difference of impact a curtain does in a narrative...

I just noticed that the double page spread with the "god of death" is in the wrong order, so instead of 死神 it reads 神死. I guess that's just one of the oddities with the japanese writing order thats hard to notice normally.
