Since there are 4 chapters, does that mean there is actually a fair amount more than just the next chapter?
Also, I see a fair amount of comics use the layout on the bottom right of page two, where there are uneven panel layouts, or multiple panels on the right side and a large panel to the left - it never fails to make me pause and wonder what order I'm supposed to read.

Yes, there's more chapters after the "last" chapter!
If there's one large panel to the left it works, but if the page is split vertically and each side has jumbled panels like in Toriyama's example, it becomes hard to read.
It's difficult to explain, I suppose the best way to learn what works is to read manga and copy from what you like!
