Oh, the translation got too literal. 桃都 is the mythical Chinese Mt. Taodu, the Capital of Escaped Ghosts administered by the Men Shen (門神) or door god pair Shentu (神荼) and Yulei (郁垒). You know, the scary armored buff dudes painted on the two sections of a traditional Chinese house main door.

In Chinese myth the true Capital of Ghosts or Youdu (幽都) is ruled by Houtu (后土), who is either the son of Gonggong (共工) or is the goddess of the Earth, but in any case rules Youdu in the form of a tiger-headed ox. Since ghosts are afraid of Houtu, many of them run away from Youdu and end up in Taodu instead. Here, they are bound by rituals created by the Yellow Emperor. The rituals generate a guardian creature which is usually depicted as a tiger prowling the boundaries of Taodu. This is why many depictions of the Men Shen include a tiger or a pair of tigers.

this. also i get that a lot of japanese myths came from chinese myths due to their history, but i also think it's weird the scanlation is using "kirin" instead of "qilin", when this manga is based on china. as for the character's names, using the japanese reading of chinese styled names make sense to a Japanese audience, but it can cause confusion to weaboos who are known for being ignorant of asian cultures. flashback to that one guy who said with full confidence he loved the japanese vibes of Gokurakugai.
