I get a feeling that the curse magic heightened the effect of something that was already happening, rather than being the triggering catalyst. Christopher was already displaying increased affection towards Katia well before the dungeon exploration.



Though the line that Sylvie gives in the middle of page 19 makes it seem like because this is the world of a story, there are certain key events that are immutable and no one as any agency towards.
