Too much forced jealousy drama in this chapter for no reason other than to establish what we already knew. Coulda just ended it with the "Oh my god he's such a hottie and the girl I love is having a pleasant conversation with him! It's all ogre!" then moved on to the regularly scheduled program of the good stuff. But no, you just had to throw the whole chapter away...

It is actually the opposite. Men in Japan are usually reserved. Japan is an introverted society. This is just cliche trope commonly used in manga.
