So the guy already did the job for years, knows all about the ins and outs of the job, is the current president best friend and has a strong motivation for doing the job at the best of his skill: why the hell does she need to be involved, like, at all?

It's about blood. It's about heritage. It's about culture.
It's dumb.

Edit : The family told her it was unkown what would happen to the brand after the president would change (in the case where she wasn't going to be the president), but if they gave this guy the position, they should have known and been confident that the result would turn out well, so it seems it's just for the sake of the plot ? Or they didn't trust the guy enough (which doesn't make sense as to how he is presented to us) ?

Anyway the romance and this guy's involvement feel forced.

Yeah, it looks like it was only a matter of branding; which is stupid, since everyone else in the business don't trust her anyway...

They should have just announced that, due to health issues, the brother was leaving most of the day-to-day activities to his right hand, while still retaining the strategic direction of the company. In the meantime they would be present the sister as a possible next head-in-training; this way the shareholders would not be concerned about the leadership, she isn't scrutinized too much, since she is just "in training", and the guy is free to question her judgment in public without hurting the company's credibility, since he is training her.
