MMK failed yet succeeded, that was epic.
But how can you keep whale sharks in an aquarium? And how do you feed them? Those things are freaking huge, and they only eat plankton.
Whale sharks are indeed huge, and have specialized feeding requirements, but several aquariums with the resources have been able to keep them, often just temporarily, although sometimes for many years. This aquarium they're visiting in Okinawa was actually the first to pull this off. There are several others now in Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, and India (though I don't know how many of these are long-term). The only aquarium outside Asia doing this is the one in Atlanta, Georgia. The very largest individuals are in any case impractical to transport and keep in captivity.
