Anyone else have a huge disconnect between the fiction you enjoy and your real-life beliefs?

One of my favorite manga genres is gender-swap. I don't even know why, I just find those stories incredibly entertaining and can binge them for hours.

The strange part is that, in real life, I'm not supportive of transgender ideology or the push to introduce those ideas to kids. So on paper, you'd think I'd avoid anything remotely related to that. Instead, I end up enjoying one of the closest genres to it.

It made me realize that my taste in fiction seems almost completely separate from my real-life values. I can enjoy reading about a concept without wanting it reflected in reality or agreeing with the ideas surrounding it.

Does anyone else have this kind of disconnect? Is there a manga genre or trope you love reading that your real-life self would never actually support, want to experience, or think is a good idea? I'm curious how common this is.

I would say that the whole point of fiction is to be able to appreciate the things you might not be able to have or even want in real life. It's like with action games with shooting, violence, and whatnot. I love games like GTA, Hitman, etc, but I'd never want to run out and be a hitman or run over people with a car myself.

I'd argue it would be stranger if all you'd want out of your entertainment is more of real life, and went looking too deep into whatever it might be about.

I feel you bro Of course this is as common as finding sand in a beach, but just like your neighbouring @BakedBanana I really enjoy cute girls doing cute things despite abhoring such shallow behaviour and superficial relationships IRL. Because having a loli harem sounds divine, but when you are surrounded by urchins and gremlins shouting non-sense you don't want to pet them, rather kicking them.
@Mangamoz come here and shitpost a bit, we need to hear how you love NTR IRL too.

I'm asexual IRL, I hate everyone and everything that walks on this Earth equally regardless of gender.
