Actually FUCK IT I'm back and yea I still think about this chapter. In all the animanga I've gone through this one chapter is one of the most striking because it's 30 straight pages of two brothers talking and it's so grounded in a way that makes it feel real. Like Touma's older brother missed some opportunities in life by becoming his primary guardian at such a young age and while he acknowledges it he also just... genuinely loves his little brother so much. Seeing him reach out to him during a time where he's hurting, not even to scold him but to establish that he's here and can help in any way he possibly can, is so touching and Touma's tears at the end fucking break me. I always loved how Ao no Flag looks at different types of relationships and how they can change and evolve but this one family, tragically broken with the deaths of their parents but still holding on strong, moves me the most.
