I have no idea why he's so interested in helping the dwarven engineering company. They absolutely can't pay him as much as he would make as an adventurer by raiding the bottom levels of a dungeon. He's basically just wasting his time with the dwarves, doing work that leaves him uncomfortable because he doesn't have real expertise for it. I guess it's just for the author's love of gag manga.

He doesn't want to be an adventurerer since earning a good income from that would attract too much attention to himself. He can stay low-key and make a living for himself helping the dwarves.
and yeah this author definitely wanted to make this a gag manga
