When I first read this three years ago, I expected the eventual serialized version of this story to have retained the Science-Fiction space epic setup this oneshot was laying the groundwork for. Though I am fine with it being a high fantasy/science-fiction hybrid, I think Soukyuu no Ariadne would had made just as an interesting story if it was a sci-fi space epic.
