Might not have been the best choice but it was what Magnolia believed it would help her lover the most. As Vassago said, foolish, so tragic, and yet so precious.
with the concept of an afterlife being present in this manga, what are the results for the husband and the wifes beloved supportive sister then?
in front of a god and servant of a god who are observers and judges of life one mans mental affliction would not hold much meaning just because someone killed him as a person.
they would have the knowledge.
thats why id call the events unfolding "the increase of misery" and nothing else.
very personal reader positioned opinion, yet i can see the damages and consequences and how much the value of peoples lives by the standards presented in the manga itself were violated.
lets just say, i feel nothing but bitter and resentful about it.

So she decided to send him away and wipe his memories, huh... Well, you know.......... Why they didn't just run away before the tragedy or wipe the memories from the villagers?????

well, you would have to assume the villagers had that much malice in their hearts. Magnolia and her husband may not have seen this coming.
Also, in order to wipe the memories of the villagers, you would need to summon the demon. You saw what she gave up for one person. Imagine doing that for 100+ people in a village. What would be the price she would have to pay to have their memories wiped?

Wow, I get that those townspeople were in pain, but they really repaid Magnolia's kindness with cruelty. And it's not like she was living it up while they suffered; she was starving right alongside them during the famine. I hope that they came to regret and feel shame for their totally unjustified violence against her.

Especially that one asshole who cut off her arms. I'm pretty sure that's the same guy who was saved by her magic after he accidentally chopped into his own leg. I hope he died from another woodcutting accident, bleeding out while thinking, "If only we had someone who could use healing magi- ... oh ..."

That should honestly be the outcome for all of the villagers here, it's really unfortunate they did not show it. I remember reading a CN novel about those black bellied transmigrated female MCs with medical skills. The lady brought advanced medical techniques to the feudal age such as cesarean delivery. Because of politics, the rivalling officials drove her out of the capital and guess what, the wife of one of the officials had complications during labor. The husband called for numerous doctors but nobody could help the wife until one of them mentioned there was a new technique called c-section could save mother and child. The husband was delighted and asked for it but the doctor only told him that it was something new and could only be done by one doctor, the same one he drove away the day before. The mother and child ended up dying and the husband regretted it so much he turned against his faction. Tragic but it's one of the most striking portrayal of karma I've seen for offending a healer.

I feel like all the people saying the girl is stupid are incapable of empathy. You're coming at this like detached 3rd party readers, rather than putting yourself in her shoes. Ironically, just like Vassago, who calls humans foolish exactly for this reason. He sees them from a detached angle. The villagers cut off her arms because of revenge, having lost their own family members, and because of fear. Yes, this is stupid, but humans tend to be stupid when they're scared, angry, and starving to death. Some are saying the husband would have taken revenge on the villagers, but would he have really? Unless you're a psychopath, your first thought is not "I'm gonna kill these people." These people are his friends and family, and their anger is mostly justified. A much more normal and easier response is blaming yourself, which is exactly what he did.

As for the girl erasing the husband's memories, you're acting like she erased all his memories; she didn't, just the parts that included her. She blamed herself for her husband's attempt at suicide, she felt like he would forever carry the guilt of what happened to her, so she needed to remove that burden. So she erased herself, without the need for anyone to die.

Alternatively, she could have just asked Vassago to just erase the husbands guilt, but people don't think 10 steps ahead in situations like this. People are driven by grief and emotion. Also, it's a story. There has to be some level of suspension of disbelief so that the story can deliver its message and emotional impact. Sitting here like some General trying to strategize the most optimal outcome is obviously going to ruin the story. It would ruin any story. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy it. Yeeesh.

Damn dude this just seems like repaying kindness with malice you understand how the villagers feel but it just looks like they truly didn't give a shit after all she's done for them to do that to someone whose been nothing but kind treating the sick and injured delivering babies and whatnot and to not even reconsider after seeing how she didn't even fight back and let them have their misguided revenge if I was Ronnie everyone in the who took part or agreed to it probably wouldn't see the next sunrise 🤷🏾

I get people are angry. But you have to remember people are this stupid and emotional, even without being starved or losing loved ones, etc. When things are all fine of course people are gonna be nice to each other, but when things are bad or worse, you really can see how people devolve.

And you need to know the feeling of talking to a wall, the utter despair as people won't listen to you, even if you dont want them to feel bad about what happened.

And of course Ronnie and Magnolia couldn't run, she was disowned without a penny to even inherit and they had helped the community so much so of course they didnt expect it.

All of these things are realistic conclusions if you remember peace is a luxury and people aren't just always black and white logical and can easily revert to emotional, primitive behavior.

Yes, people are very stupid, especially when it comes to grief, but I cannot express how utterly brainless one has to be to cut off the arms of the towns ONLY HEALER DURING A FAMINE, if you’re scared of her taking revenge just take her husband hostage or chain her up somewhere, I honestly believe that if everyone’s skulls in this village are that empty then perhaps they were better off dying, better that then letting their incompetence infect future generations, where are the random god floods when you need them.

Secondly, if she erased all memory of herself from her husband’s memory…why did he suddenly forget the town he grew up in and everyone there, I know the note lied to him or whatever but did he seriously not even think for half a second “I wonder what happened to my hometown?” Until the day he died? Maybe I just didn’t understand the terms of the deal with the demon or something.

Overall great chapter, I stand by what I said about those starving peasants and I pray they all died from paper cuts and minor infections, absolute morons
