Whoever is in charge of Weapons technology R&D in this world is asleep at the god damn wheel.
Magazine fed bolt-actions (and the mangaka even got lazy on page 34 and omitted drawing the bolt handle) are a thing and that's the pinnacle of weapons technology? No deck guns? Lever-actions? Pump actions? Volley guns? Rotary/Gatling guns? Nock guns? Punt guns? Nothing? Just... a Japanese high school kid with a bolt-action rifle and iron sights STANDING on a deck of a floating airship that can wobble all over the place?

...Uh... Okay... Seems incredibly dumb when it's stated that firearms are literally the only thing that allow you defend yourself. That said, I'd take this anyday over another fucking teenager with another fucking magic sword. I am sick to death of fantasy with swords and magic.
