It's also possible Noah hasn't learned of her death sentence either. Folks probably don't really talk about her in the empire, not even about Sheridan, likely, because it's considered an unattractive part of the empire and its duke is viewed as an ominous fellow. So, people likely wouldn't learn about Clarisse's impending execution just by listening to idle chatter. In fact does the duchess know about it? I don't remember. It's hard to imagine she would take it calmly. The mad emperor, touched by Sheogorath as he is, is eagerly awaiting for the duke to love Clarisse like his own child, so that when he needs to kill her, it would be like the end of the world.
Other than that, if the duke and duchess don't have their own first child after three years, it means the duke can't get it up. I'd feel sorry for the duchess.

I'm always so torn seeing the cute children from Manhwas I like grow up...
It's a sign the stakes are about to go up (and transitioning to romance) and we'll see less of the good old "pampering these precious kids" part of the story which I enjoy a lot.
