My faith in Mangadex's grading system is restored now that this manga is being dragged down from its previous high score of almost a 9.00 to its rightful place of 7.00~. This is just Overlord but with worse characters and an even less interesting MC.

Okay like everyone else is saying: This is overlord, with shallower characters and storyline. With the mc being the only redeemable part of not being awkward to his servants. Other than that, a 5/10 story, a 8/10 art, and… an overall score of a 7/10.

I have to imagine that this story was written by a tragically dying middle school child, and their best friend swore to make the story a reality. Driven by this dream, they became a manga artist though years of hard work. Now, with the skills needed to bring this eye-roll-fest to life, the artist published chapter 1 of their dearly departed friend's written-by-a-sick-middle-schooler-quality tale (with appropriate modernizations).

So when you read this manga, don't think "how could an adult write a story so weak?", but instead shrug and say "I guess it's not bad for a pre-teen writer".

So I dropped this thing 30 chapters in, kept hoping against hope that they wouldn't assign such a good artist to such a shitty story, turns out they would, and they did. You can see my first impressions somewhere above.

The plot of the story is in the synopsis. Really, all of it is there. The brat was bullied, fell down the hole, popped up some time later as the LORD OF ASSPULL PRO MAX, and wants to kill all those who tried to kill him. It's just that. What's his ability? Asspull, where he has OP shits and 'waifus' delivered straight to him, with exactly zero effort needed on his side. The average paper tissue has more personality than the roster of 'waifus' presented in the story, which is such a shame because they LOOK GREAT. The characters all look amazing and it pisses me off even more because the art was so good it managed to hide the sheer shittiness of the story for a good while. It boils my blood to look at this shit, to see the amount of sheer talent displayed on the page, to be wasted like so. It's such a shame, really. Go find the artist's other works and read them. Don't waste your time on this trash.

Genuinely terrible. The MC treats everyone who isn't a human like garbage, regardless of their actions. His gacha servants make up the entirety of the supporting cast and have no free will, in fact I'm not even sure they're actually sapient. If it decided to go all-in on the revenge plot there might at least be some popcorn entertainment to be had, but the author is terrified of progressing the narrative and constantly delves into flashbacks instead.

The fact this has a 7.88 rating is frankly offensive. I realize mangadex's ratings tend to be a bit wonky, but still. I've seen far better series fall far lower.

I've made a horrific discovery.
Manga has more character than the WB (Raw)

In the WB only 6 Races exist in the party instead of 9 in the manga
and so far the White Knight only has 5 Members Mast does not exist which also means that "Body of Steel Jack" does not exist in the WB. Fuck he's my favorite side character.

I've seen worse than this manga. That's the only reason I gave it a 2 instead of a 1.

And I do not get why some here are praising the art. The dungeons are mostly wireframe 3D models. The characters are utterly typical stock anime renderings. The background in most panels are non-existent. The only thing that might be described as "good art" are the highly detailed are the horror set pieces, which are very detailed, as if those were the only things that the artist was motivated to draw. Average all of those things out, and the art barely raises to a level of "meh".

I like this one. Please ignore the haters. The MC does get stupidly OP, but he stays on track with the revenge. There’s some twists thrown in of mysteries but the story doesn’t meander. There’s also enough side story to keep the revenge stuff from being the boring version of other stories. And there’s no torture porn.

It may not be the best story but it’s the highest quality revenge story in this genre of fiction.

Its not entirely unpleasant to read, even though I detest card themes and gacha themes - which ironically are more of a afterthought despite being essentially the title. It's largely carried by the side characters, which isn't entirely a bad thing iv seen plenty of manga and anime where the main character only really serves as a rail system to give something for the other characters to get around on.

I gave it a 8 out of 10 on the rating system, largely because I enjoyed the convulsions its higher than expected rating has been causing in this thread but couldn't bring myself to go higher - spite lost out to pride just a little there.

Just your average fantasy revenge story with an overpowered, presumably dickless MC and a harem full of waifus who will never get laid by him. Not great, not terrible.
