They're still in the "its not really real" stage of their escape I feel. Once the thought that they can never go back really hits them I feel their dynamic will really begin to change.

To be fair, coconut water is indeed tastier with some added stuff like syrup or condensed milk, but not sugar or milk (the liquid variant).

why does it feel like they went back in time to 80s Vietnam or something? lol the setting feels off...
Which part? The cyclo?

That's the exact contrary. "Everyone has a smartphone", they offer "Airbnb" and the guy mentions that "Cyclos are going extinct".

Which is pretty much modern Vietnam. Saigon, in the early 2010s, banned the use of cyclo outside of specific parts of the city. People all use cars and scooters now.

I don't know where you see "80s Vietnam".

Idk if it was mentionned but why do i feel like Phu-Thuy is a woman ?

I'm not sure what your intuition is based on, but I like the idea because it would add another layer of mystery/humor and it would mess with Yuri's head. "It's a woman, which means they can't be exes like I thought. But wait, didn't Asako say this person 'plays' with women? But Asako doesn't swing that way, right? Unless... Ugh she's so frustrating!" And so on. It's kind of a main theme that Yuri is out of her depth not just as a "tourist" in Vietnam but also when it comes to understanding Asako.
