I can see part of the gripe, but I'm just holding out seeing that it's already finished.

To me, it doesn't have the same spark as the first half, much less the predecessor. It feels like all of Bambino's training just got thrown out the window and just becomes rival of the week. He hasn't grown at all since New York.

The premise of this manga that was different from other cooking manga, was that it was an in-depth look at how a kitchen of a high-class Italian place was ran. It wasn't an izakaya or a coffee place; It was an expensive restaurant with a set menu.

i don't mind the interpersonal drama with Asuka, but we're 100 chapters in and the entire first-half of the story has been dedicated to Ban trying to fire a guy who should have been bounced out on his ass the second they realized he was training people with the wrong methods.

Yeah I get it, all the shit with Tsuchiya. Any sane place of work would have fired him the instant he touched the food to sabotage.
There are so many moments in the second half that make me roll my eyes at how ridiculous it is. Its been many years since I read the first half but I remember it being a hell of a lot more grounded and realistic.
