Call me stupid but I'm confused , who was right here ? Her father or that assistant? Like was the right choice to let his daughter escape ? Like was the assistant wrong?

Imo the attack likely would have happened either way, her father just tried to do his best to protect her. Sucks that it turned out like this, but she probably would have had a real shit life if she had been handed over, too.

In the end, the fault lies with that incompetent crown prince who kept feigning illness

Yeah but wasn't the deal "I'm taking your daughter and you are not a traitor or in danger "? I understand that her life would be literal hell with that guy but if he gave him his daughter all the chaos would be avoided, I know it's for the plot sake but this isn't a decision a leader would make if he had so many lives on his hands (?)

How do I searsh manga like these? I mean in this era.

The dad probably assumes that a war-mongering-would-be-emperor is just as likely to take his daughter and sack the city anyway. So in his mind the city was lost either way, so he's doing what he can to save her. But because Su You doesn't understand that, she blames herself because she thinks everything would have been fine if she had just been handed over.

Using the Historical tag is your best bet for finding other series.

I don't know if that assumption makes any sense though. The whole point of marrying a lord's daughter is to establish a family connection and alliance with that lord. "Give me your daughter" translates to "bend the knee and side with me against the emperor". Her dad was trying to be a good father but in the process he ended up being a bad lord to his subjects, and instead of being married to some lord she doesn't know his daughter wound up an orphaned prostitute which is definitely worse.

It's so sad that she blames herself. It's more her father's fault. Hell, it's even more the fault of a whole social structure which treats women as objects to be bought and sold. Her father does everything he can to protect her from that sort of treatment and she still ends up a victim of it.
