It's likely the latter. She's probably feeling insecure since she thinks she's not good enough and Shotaro isn't helping by not thinking too deeply about their relationship. His mom is steering him in the right direction though (S+ Mom).

she might cheat in the future and she almost did with that comedian?/music guy (im already shocked she didnt back then). much better to break up which is better for both since MC is focus on career while shes focus on drama/love life. LDR sucks, its quite rare for it to succeed.
