that's a messed up thing to say
like yeah he doesn't want to be there anymore but understand that his own father has been pushing his unfulfilled goals on this teenager; selling the family's assets to fund the school fees and telling him about all the sacrifices being made just so the father can vicariously live out his dream through the kid probably without ever really asking if that's what the kid wanted.

he feels trapped, doesn't know how to get out of the situation, and is lashing out because he's a dumb teenager who doesn't know how to deal with his emotions that he's bottled up

edit: I'm not saying his behavior so far has been excusable nor does it absolve him of anything, since he's definitely been up to some underhanded stuff. but it's possible to see how the circumstances caused him to act the way he did.
