Bah, this is too convenient. With how engaging the story has been thus far, I see little reason to force in the ol' childhood friend trope.

The black hair girl design is literally just the MC as a woman and it is so fckn funny to me. I see what Hicleric meant, it is a weird addition for some reason to force it like this. Of course it adds to the plot and I bet a reconciliation arc where we learn about her family that she tends to not mention much.
