I don't think he's a misogynist in this case since it seems like most women around his age have been a bother to him what with all their intention to pursue him and all, especially that one girl who keeps trying to get married to him by coming to residence unannounced. So for him, it's just a general observation in accordance to his experience. I won't blame him for that.
What does seem to be a problem with him is his ignorance regarding the welfare of slaves and most probably common folk. Considering he was born into power and privilege, it's probably going to be a talking point in this story and something he has to face sometime in the future for character development.

I don't think that's the case for this guy. If the author says he can't get drunk, then I take that at face value. Especially when it's shown with his first experience with alcohol, he couldn't get drunk.
