Also continued love for the character development. Like folks flagged in one of the other chapters, Eric also recognized PTSD because he's been written to be a good experienced commander. I am in love with the consistency in characterization/world building.

Like these folks behave in ways that make sense for who they are/how they're written. Even his dad, it seems like that mostly started after the mom went completely berserk and caused a blood bath.

I think he's the wisest ML I ever read in this genre. Many were kind but rarely wise.
