I guess I'll just repeat some stuff I said about this arc on bluesky here. The subtlety of Tenka's arc and feelings is not something this fast paced manga could pull off and somehow the longer running anime didn't do any better. The difference between Tenka gaining the confidence of choosing to face her mother instead of X like she originally planed, and still trusting in X to get the job done, isn't that great of an development. For a character that is designed to learn to put her trust in others they actively make her disinterested with other characters but took that way too far and made her never feel fully integrated into the plot.

Karla, Kyubi, the Manju family are all great new characters that were intergrated perfectly for what they needed to do and played off well with established characters. Tenka on the other hand had her big conffesion moment and to back that up with things she leanred about Persona, the anime could only cut back to the finals of the first arc because she hadn't done anything menaninul with any of the characters yet. She just regurgitated their arcs from that season as if she was there to watch them herself.

Its not that I like it, or think its good, but the manga's poor set up doens't bother me as much because of how fast paced it is. Sure Tenka was there when Multi got her run back on her big sisters but it wasn't nacessary for her to be there. She really didn't do anything with Bird that wasn't done in the first arc. And the stuff with X was the best it could be with his static character but that's also not saying much. I just find it funny that a story with main chracters like Bird and X, who are at thier core different sides of the same coin can fumble a easy character story like Tenka's. They really couldn't let go of the "Shiroboshi never loses" but didn't give it the same light heartedness X never losing has, I guess.
