First of all, don't anounce stuff, you don't already have your hands an. But more importantly, he announced he WILL BE receiving a new item! An item nobody knew how to earn. Nobody, which should include MC, as it's easy to see why:
-> When, at a later point, he comes clear, that he cleared the main quest, he WILL also have to state, that he did it for the first time. This is because, as there are changes to the game, world everyone can notice, and those haven't been noticed before! So evidently noone could have cleared the main quest before.
-> And therefore, as this must be the first time this sub-quest has been cleared, HOW did he know, that he would recieve Wiga's White Staff?
He just delievered evidence, that he has a glitched character.
