Man even though the father was not perfect at least he did try to make things irght at some point evne though it was late. I cannot imagine the self-blaming he must have went through throughout this whole thing. Him dying would make undead Sei even worse and I am so scared

So sad that his last words are might be an unfinished apology. Even tho he let Seiichi down sm when he needed him most. He did tried so hard to make up for it and be there for him, the best to his ability. He was the only one to not forsake Seiichi after trial. The only good thing I can see out of his death is that he won't have to deal with the guilt anymore. And Sei who was already a motherless child will now be without a father.

His father was ultimately a good man.
Let's be realistic, what do you do in 80's/90's Japan when you're working your ass off to provide for your family and your wife shows signs of being mentally unwell? There was so much riding on the father and he didn't have the knowledge or resources to handle all of it. It's not his fault so much as a systemic failure.
