It's weird that they didn't contact each other again....? Now she's going to be on her deathbed or something and it's like, what did he learn?

I think, if anything, he's hopefully learned that his mother is just a person. A flawed and fucked up person, but a complete individual that has her own hang-ups.

She ruined his life because she allowed hers to be ruined, but the lesson Sei learns is to let that shit go, to see her die without hating her and maybe understanding her. And—in the end—being happy.

He deserves happiness but he can only really achieve it by moving the fuck on and compartmentalizing his mother's actions without letting it become a chain the cycle of abuse.

The author isn't even trying anymore.
It's been a directionless symbolism jerkoff-fest for the past 80 chapters.
Man is just writing as he goes while the ambiguity and potential for some reveals create this mask that the series is some sort of genius masterwork. It's like me in middle school media class trying to ham in as much special effects and glitch sfx to sound edgy and profound. It's so fucking embarrassing. This used to be one of my favorite mangas, and I still think the earlier portion of the story has some genuinely great story with actual substantial discussion to made between Seichi & his mom as well as how visual imagery is used so effectively.
Nowadays he's just mindlessly drawing for the sake of drawing and hoping that the fanbase he's created will eat this shit up like it's some high-intellectual "you just don't get it" masterpiece.

So the mother will give him the motivation to keep on living in her last breath?
Something like "live the way you want, you are free" or "be happy".
She dies and Seichi lives forever in our hearts.

You could be writing this in your diary instead of here

I agree, as in it's being needlessly symbolic for the sake of being symbolic.

I mean I've watched an anime a while back that completely threw any potential it had out the window in order to be cryptic and mysterious just for the sake of it and when the last few episodes hit, it proceeded to dump as much exposition as possible in the most confusing and cryptic manner that the studio could muster. Really frustrating.

This feels....unsatisfactory. I mean, we have years of destruction left in the mother's wake. We get a glimpse of what her life was prior, but it doesn't excuse said destruction. And now, we have the guy being essentially broken from the whole experience just letting it go. Just like that.

This isn't like a parent who was absent most of the time and the child hates them for it, only for them to find out the parent was working multiple jobs just so they could afford nice things for their kid. This kind of revelation is fine for the 180 perception of a character from another character.

But this? She had a active hand in breaking him. A "why" is acceptable for a reason, but again, doesn't justify it and him just "letting go" doesn't add up. This should be a crowning moment, but it feels like the mangaka just rushed here without earning it. Too many corners have been cut and now I just have this hollow feeling of resolution.

EDIT
FFS, Chromaticum, Razmanga, sit down. You acting like condescending jerkoffs for someone displeased with this story is kinda disgusting. Stop it now.

If you really REALLY like this manga, you owe it to yourself and the thing that you love to defend it. If someone is confused by it and wants an explanation, try giving one. But all we get from you is "I DON'T OWE YOU ANYTHING, YOU'RE JUST ENTITLED." Funny enough this is what twitter activist will barf out to people they are dunking on. And the irony of you calling me "a clout chaser". Hilarious.

And yes, Chrom, you dolt. You were being passive aggressive and were just slinging ad hominems instead of engaging in the conversation. You keep accusing others of deflecting when you are the absolute master of it, so kindly look in mirror before regurgitating that phrase again. Seriously, you are overcompensating in such a manner that you act like a condescending ass who treats others who don't see your vision and or who step on your toes as beneath your grandiose over inflated sense of your self perception and intelligence. "Buzzwords"? He's engaging in the same language you use and all of a sudden, it's not acceptable? Stop gaslighting you prig.

The only embarrassing thing is your comment. My whole body was filled with cringe when I read it. I'm not surprised by anything these days as much as I'm surprised by people who really can't understand this manga. If you can't understand what he writes, if you think he draws mindlessly - he writes and draws coherently btw - that's your problem. Not being able to understand is nothing to be upset about, it's just funny that you're trying to hide it behind a cringe whiny comment lol. :haa:

Every time we see aunt's teeth, something bad happens :D It's the scariest thing in the manga.

I'm glad he's starting to get his life together, I'm at peace when this boy is at peace. I guess the only thing left now is the death of the mother. Maybe we could see Sei's old age and death at the end of the series. I'd like to see that. I wonder how this boy's life will end.

I find the way of telling his story is strangely similar to the way of Haruki Murakami stories. It's almost like it's an adaptation of Kafka on the Shore.

At least I explained my reasons? If you're going to call me out for being cringe, at least counterargue on why you think the past 80 chapters have had actual substance. Give me solid reasons to change my mind on Seiichi and Seiko...heck, give me any sort of coherent analysis on their relationship or the visual imagery incorporated. The cat. Yuko. The Cliff. Shigeru. Literally anything at all. I'm not hiding behind shit 🗿, I've discussed this series alot, and I'm expressing my frustration and disappointment after following the series for so many years. I'm all ears for having my mind changed. But if you're unwilling and will simply resort to the "you just don't understand" or "you're cringe" to deflect any criticisms, then you're just proving my last statement right. 🤷‍♂️

Ew, just stop reading then. Your subconscious frustration over how inept your manga comprehension is has overflowed. Move on to another manga and try to do it like Sei has in this chapter. Maybe you'll learn something instead of being Oscar the Grouch.

Edit: And to include a response to what you said to the guy above. None of us have to change your mind, especially when you didn't ask that in your emotional drivel from your original comment. Its no one elses job to make you enjoy something but yourself. Stop deflecting and learn to redirect your crappier emotions positively.

Still waiting for a response that isn't a passive aggressive strawman or ad hominem. 🗿

Read my edit above. You can sit here indignantly expecting people to play to your whims. But you aren't the main character so no one owes you dick.

You're right. No one owes me anything. But this is a place for discussion and I think it's fine to have those expectations when someone calls me cringe or that I don't understand something or how "inept" my manga comprehension is. It's nothing to do with narcissism or main character syndrome shit, I'm just defending myself and my original take while being open to the chance it's changed. You're right that I should've asked for it in my original comment tho, regardless of how angry I was.
I apologize for coming off as vitriolic but please put yourself in my position. If you were angry at a series you've kept up with & discussed for years and gave justification for it, but people simply shoot you off with insults and saying you have low reading comprehension - wouldn't you want an explanation too?
