I feel that this will develop into the plot point of "technique vs passion". Sure, the new guy may be technically better at sax than Dai, but will he be able to truly bring out the best of those he's playing with? Or will Dai finally hit his first major roadblock, realizing that his passion alone can no longer carry him to the heights he wishes to reach?
I'm very interested to see where this goes. Thanks for the chapter!
rather than technique vs passion, i feel like it's a clash of individuality.
D's style is to go through stuff with force. can't mesh well with band? play again until you do. don't know how to create a good jazz that can capture international audience? try again and again until you do. focused if you want to say it nicely. simple and single-minded if you want to critique it.
the new guy is... feels like he went for the elite course. like he's trying to overwhelm people with perfection. which is also nice. i don't think he will perform unless he think it;s flawless. but because it's perfect, he leaves no room for imagination and discussion.
at the end of the day, you don't eat at a fine dining restaurant everyday. most days after you're done with work, tired but want to treat yourself, you go for streetfood/fastfood like burger.
i know the sudden segue to food analogy is kinda weird. but you get my point.
