For anyone wondering, the day started back in ch8, and the lost companion moment happened in ch17. Incidentally, it hasn't even been two days yet, we're at the second night.
The irl dates for when ch8 and this chapter came out are somewhere around 2022/06 & 2025/05. So really, Mia should've said around 3 years instead.

I'm glad that they returned home but it feels like they should've thought about what to do with the other school people more
They had no time and resource for that. Their mission was to get Mia's arm and Arisu back and returned safely and they already accomplished that. Lingering around any longer will only risk them from being ambushed so returning to the base immediately was the correct decision.

And since none of them can be trusted, bringing them along is not an option either. As Shiki said, leaving them to their own device serves better purpose in the long run since they can be used as baits for the monster and that will reduce MC's group burden as well.

TLDR: They already made the right call

Any idea which comic it was?,also, who made the joke first?,which popular-ish comic also made the joke?,these are the real questions.

As for a close current example, that'd be 1:39,which is day three in universe.
It's used so often that it's hard to name any single starting instance. At this stage it's a trope just like Chekov's Gun or the Hero's Journey.

Don't read so much into it. Putting aside that its an age old comics joke, it's a common joke in Japan in manga, anime and even IRL about how much time may have passed. In the latter case you can make a comment about how X time has passed, has the 'author' forgotten about us, even though it's real life.
Well, the whole point is to take note of it.

Because "being common" doesn't actually mean it's commonly known.

Or in this case, this is the first time this exact line came up and was actively pointed out by a just as unaware scanlator.

I didn't say they needed to do more, but they needed to THINK about it more. Antagonising an entire group of people who were not 100% all willing and complicit feels like a bad move. There could've been a few defectors, especially the girls.

A simple explanation of a common trope has somehow turned into 'but ackchyually's with already established information and egregious grasping at straws like commonly used doesn't mean commonly known.....

Honestly if our world was a fictional one, the author must have snorted some coke when they covered this part.

Actually it's not a joke, it's literal in this case. I checked the Official Raw site and the series was on hiatus during this arc from 2022 to late 2024.

Damn, a two year hiatus? I'm glad it came out of that, because things that stop that long are generally just very dead.

I feel like the series is just going to meander from this point on because they've killed off the only thing resembling an antagonist.

He should've kill the other guy that looks like the vice leader too, and also his subordinates. They treat others like slave.

Anyway, threatening the guy you bully to save you after he killed your leader is shameless and crazy lmao

Now the bully scum are definitely gone, the rest of his followers won't do anything now Kaya warned them if they try something stupid. Good job from Yuuki to retrieve the arm of his sister. Now our boy and his girls are back in facility and can enjoy the moment of tranquility for a while.

He has been saying yesterday and today, has it really been just two days? He only slept once until this chapter? It seemed like they have been doing a lot. Is it perhaps a translation issue?
