The "group of people isolated from the rest of the world" take is refreshing than what usually got adapted into TV series.

In those, they usually want to exhibit "the worst of humanity" and make the characters starts getting selfish and get into conflict. People getting into arguments and betraying each other is probably what those shows' audience came for.

This one though, explore more about emotional need to be part of a group, along with the insecurity if they can't find their reason to be (living by mercy and can be disposed easily).
