I was under the impression that Mafuyu-sensei had an injury that forced her to retire? But it seems like she just quit in order to become a teacher and is perfectly capable of returning to athletics. Hmm. Guess I was mistaken.

Either way, I'm hoping to see less focus on shipping in this arc (unlikely as it is) and see the kids "tutor" Mafuyu in their own way; it'd be a nice role reversal and show how adults/teachers learn from their students just as much as they teach them.

If there does have to be shipping, I'd be fine with more Miharu stuff instead. Teacher-student relationships feel more and more creepy the older I get.

So mommy and daddy have an ambition, and she has to fulfill it? Yeah, at least she had the nerve to say "no". I know it is only manga, but it did struck a cord with me

I had a friend, who was depressed- well, melancholic, depression is when you don`t want to even breathe- because his mommy wanted him to go into medical school. In academic achievements he was very competitive, and usually his scores were hovering around 85- 95%. Long story short he didn`t make it past even first tests... And other guy, we were roommates with, who was coptetitive too, got there... And after a month he decided it is not for him and changed universities to pursue engeneering studies... Now imagine wanting to get somwhere, not getting there, and the guy who did ,just threw it away, like it was nothing...
We are talking about the guy, who couldn`t stand it, when i was winning with him in chess game- i ain`t the most serious person, when it comes to studing- but going by my results in IQ tests and stuff like that, i am at least above average, i`m just lazy as hell. So here is a person, that studies, that goes above and beyond to reach his goals, to understand, and a lazy bum is matching him step by step in many areas(for example: i wrote him a paper in philosophy, because he couldn`t understand subject well)
Dark side of ambition- you can`t fulfill it, you go very nasty to everybody. Worse yet, if it ain`t yours ambition... So little plea- don`t do thins to your kids

Well, as far as manga always trying to justify some massive personality deficiency in one chapter with an extremely generic and predictable backstory, this one wasn't too bad. Can't say it was all that good, but at least it wasn't entirely obvious.
