I think it's more soul transfer than brain transfer. Transferring a brain would be far more difficult.

yeah - "soul transfer" feels inherently magic-y and you can write it off as "powerful ritual to move this esoteric essence of being from one meatmech to another"

"brain transfer" is inherently rooted in the biology of things, and because of that more "grounded" aspect of the physicality involved, it'd feel kind of silly to also just ascribe it to magic.
